About Naturtreu – What’s behind it?
Naturtreu was founded in Hamburg in 2018 and has developed into one of the best-known German supplement providers in the premium segment within just a few years. The range currently includes around 30 products, including classic micronutrients such as magnesium bisglycinate, vitamin D3+K2, vitamin B complex, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, zinc bisglycinate, and omega-3 from algae oil, supplemented by plant extracts such as Ashwagandha KSM-66, turmeric with piperine, and milk thistle.
The common thread at Naturtreu is the consistent selection of bioavailable active ingredient forms. Instead of cheap magnesium oxide, they exclusively use bisglycinate—a form bound to glycine which, according to studies, is absorbed better than inorganic compounds. Vitamin D3 is sourced from lichen (not sheep’s wool), making the entire range vegan. Vitamin K2 is provided as All-Trans-MK-7, the most stable and effective form of K2.
The capsule shells are made of plant-based cellulose (HPMC). Magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, artificial colors, or other fillers are avoided. Every batch is tested in independent German laboratories for heavy metals, microbial contamination, and active ingredient content. The laboratory analyses can be viewed directly on the Naturtreu website using the batch number—a level of transparency that is not a given in the industry.
Production takes place exclusively in Germany under GMP standards. Shipping is climate-neutral, and packaging is largely plastic-free (amber glass + cardboard).

News from Naturtreu
The realization that humans need vitamins is relatively new. Before the First World War, vitamins were still unknown. As early as the 18th century, mysterious deficiency symptoms such as scurvy were recorded, a dreaded seafarer’s disease that could strangely be treated with lemon juice and sauerkraut. However, the connection between these phenomena and an inadequate vitamin intake was only recognized later. Intensive research into vitamins only began in 1912.
In 1916, the American biochemist Elmer McCollum introduced the categorization of vitamins by letters (A, B, etc.). A few years later, he discovered that vitamin B consists of a complex of substances. However, several components of this complex were later recognized as not being true vitamins and were sorted out. That is why the B vitamins are numbered up to “B12” today, but B4, B8, B10 and B11 are missing from this series.
